In a technology-driven world, we control our social media profiles, dates, online purchases, and even banking. But we’re expected to carry our medications and several documents worth of medical history with us on every trip to a new healthcare provider in our own country let alone another. In an era where global citizenship and digital currency are taking over, where is the focus on the most essential aspect of our survival: our health?
healtHack offers a centralized platform of medical records where you are in control of your health. Our vision is a worldwide network of medical records that globalizes healthcare from first-world to third-world countries. Where medical information is privately and securely shared from patient to healthcare provider and where every transaction can be verified for authenticity by the entire network.
OUR INSPIRATION
One major issue in the healthcare system is patient data: files are not transferred easily between healthcare providers, patients do not have easy access to their entire health record when filling out forms, and delayed diagnosis results in longer patient wait times, which promote the persistence of chronic disease.
We want to streamline Ontario’s healthcare system by providing an personal, easy-to-access health record coded onto the Ontario Health Cards for patients and healthcare providers.

Healthcare providers are constantly in high-stress environments. To reduce this stress and streamline reception, healtHack optimizes accessibility.
BLOCKCHAIN
Each block is connected to each other because the previous hash is identical to the following = the blockchain
Any changes to the block will not be implemented unless the entire chain is rewritten so that the previous block matches the subsequent block --which is near impossible. Therefore blockchain ensures no data is deleted or altered.
A peer to peer network (i.e. of all the clinicians, researchers and hospitals) are connected.
Every health professional has access to the blockchain
If a new block (i.e. new health information) is entered…
The new block is added to everyone on the network
Therefore every health professional will have up-to-date electronic medical records.
API
Used for suggested resources:
In the personal tab, on our webpage, we utilize an API that gathers the data from the symptom tracker and the medical profile tab, editable by the healthcare professional, which will be run through a custom google search API (https://github.com/google/google-api-python-client/tree/master/samples) That allow for easy access to information about a given condition or disease, based on the google search output.
Used for Medication Alert:
Utilizing the stdlib system for message bird, the atrigger function sends a message at a designated time, with a reminder message to take your medication.
